See below for riders' comments & feedback regarding the 2020 Great Weston Ride:
Obviously the 2020 GWR was very much a 'COVID-affected' event but please be assured that riders' views are still really important to us as they help us to shape and improve the event from year to year, and the feedback we receive is always very much appreciated. Thank you.
For me, this is a bucket list event. Everyone should do it at least once. 3rd time now, and every time I make a few more friends. Looking forward already to GWR 2021. Well done to everyone who made this such a special event.
Sean Di'Anno - 'Awesome'
Absolutely fantastic. I cannot praise enough how amazing this day was. So well organised. Thank you so much. In these difficult times you have shown the world how you can hold an event safely. Huge thank you to everyone and the great marshals who are so helpful. New food stop outstanding. Well done to all. Thanks again and see you next year.
Reg Gilder - 'Awesome'
Thank you so much for putting on such a well organized and COVID-19 compliant event. In a year in which so much has been cancelled, the GWR felt even more special. I am so thankful to the organizers and volunteers for their time in making this event a reality. Not to mention, we somehow had the best weather!
Emily Latorraca - 'Awesome'
Second time riding this fabulous event. The outstanding organisation sets a very high benchmark which other similar rides just cannot match. A fantastic variation of scenery along the way makes for a thoroughly enjoyable day's riding. The choice of routes, distances and climbing are well balanced and will suit all ages, most bike types and abilities. You will be a fool to miss this in 2021.
Ian Stevenson - 'Awesome'
The GWR has become one of the highlights of the cycling year, and never more so than this year in these times of COVID when we all need a good day out doing something normal. It is such a great event - beautifully organised, very clearly signposted, with terrific refreshment stops en route and the best burgers at the end. If you've never done a sportive before this is the one to begin with, incredibly welcoming and the hardest cycling is slap-bang in the middle, so you know that once you've descended the Mendips there are no nasty surprises in store. (The Great Exmoor Ride has a sting in the tail!) Darren and the team make running the event look effortless, leaving us cyclists blissfully unaware of quite how many mountains are being moved behind the scenes. Bravo all, and many thanks from a grateful cycling city.
John Loy - 'Awesome'
A fantastic morning, thank you so much for the great organisation and the detailed instructions beforehand. The start was spot on, thanks to all those who helped to put the event on including the friendly stewards on the way round the course. This was the only sportive I have ridden this year, so thanks for the opportunity to ride!
John Malyckyj - 'Awesome'
What a year to choose to enter my first ever Sportif. But it has been the highlight of my year. The organisation and friendliness from everyone involved was second to none. Along with my own family support I achieved something I never thought possible. 65 is the new 55! Thank you team.
Judy Smith - 'Awesome'
Wow. What a fantastically organised day. How Darren and the team pull this together is usually quite amazing but, given this year's challenges, it's nothing short of incredible. You are all a credit to the South West, to cycling and yourselves. Many thanks for a wonderful day.
Simon Derrick - 'Awesome'
I think this was my 8th GWR and it certainly won't be my last, it's simply the best sportive of the year......
Rich Starr - 'Awesome'
Great day out, think event organisers could learn from how this event was run, please don't change for next year.
Andy Scrivens - 'Awesome'
Thanks! This was one of the best events I've ever done. I often ride in the Mendips, but this was the first time I have taken part in a sportive. The atmosphere was fantastic and it was so well organised. Really hope to be back next year.
Matthew Wheeler - 'Awesome'
My 4th GWR and even the Covid version was as fabulous as ever. Brilliant organisation, fantastic route. Great co-riders with a lovely atmosphere and mix of riders. This has certainly become my favourite ride each year. Looking forward to my 5th GWR in 2021!
Bob Callaghan - 'Awesome'
My 7th year running now....it's becoming a bit of a habit. As always the event runs like a well-oiled machine, the marshals and food stops were fantastic and the route signage clear and easy to follow. The route itself is beautiful and caters for all levels with the optional extra mileage for those who want it - Cheddar Gorge always amazes me! I cannot recommend the Great Weston Ride enough. Thanks to all those involved in organising and running the event in this strangest of years; I for one very much appreciated it......see you next year!
Alan Desmond - 'Awesome'
First time back since 2016. What an enjoyable day. I'm not missing another year if I can help it. Well done to the organisers.
Ian Robinson - 'Awesome'
I think I've done this ride almost every year since it started, on a tandem sometimes but lately on my single. It just seems to get better every year and brings out such a diverse group of cyclists, from the really serious cyclists to the amateurs which is lovely. Food included in the entry fee is a brilliant idea and the freebies are great. Already looking forward to next year! Thanks again to all involved in this and the GER, you've been amazing.
Rachel Curtis - 'Awesome'
This was my first GWR and I have to say it was brilliant!! Great route to ride, extremely well organised during these difficult times so a big well done and thank you to everyone who assisted in making it easy for the riders from the organisers to the helpers! Fantastic job, I can’t wait for next year.
Lee Grant - 'Awesome'
I haven’t ridden this ride for a couple of years due to other commitments but you certainly cannot fault Darren and his team for putting on a great event under difficult circumstances. It caters for all riders of all abilities, food at the feed stations and at the end was amazing, great route, well sign posted with safety and making sure you enjoy the day at the top of their agenda. I highly recommend this event for any rider and will be back next year for sure.
Jon Thorne - 'Awesome'
Fantastic event, planned to perfection. From start to finish, faultless - well signed, great marshals and well organised feed stops. My first GWR but I'll be back! Thanks to all involved.
Clive Hodges - 'Awesome'
Congratulations on such a fantastic event. Having not done anything like this before I was so impressed with the work and organisation which had clearly gone into this. I felt safe and supported throughout from the marshals on the route, the friendly and encouraging catering staff, chats with fellow riders, ample bike maintenance providers and even a medic on a motorbike. The weather was incredible and I enjoyed the whole experience enormously. Thank you all.
Sheila Cockbill - 'Awesome'
Brilliant day out on the bike, really well managed, many thanks to the GWR team and all the volunteers who helped make the day run smoothly. Will be back next year.
Mark Bishton - 'Awesome'
Thank you for making the day so brilliant and the route so easy to follow, because of signage, support staff etc. It was my niece and mine first time, and we absolutely loved it... I'm pleased to say too, we've managed to raise £750 so far... So looking forward to next year's bike ride. I would recommend this event to all my friends and family. Thanks to all the people who supported the riders... made the day for all us riders... X
Paula Ashley - 'Awesome'
A huge thank you to all organisers, marshals, caterers and other helpers/volunteers for making it another superb GWR experience and especially in these strange times. Thank you so much.
Cris Leaman - 'Awesome'
This was my first GWR & I opted for the 75 mile route, blimey the first part of the ride was a bit of a test with those hills but once they were out of the way it was easier & more relaxed. Your organising of everything with regards to the Covid situation was excellent, we could see a lot of thought had gone in to it. I enjoyed the relaxed & friendly atmosphere of the organisers & riders, it was a great day out. Personally it was a brilliant opportunity to combine riding with raising some money for Charity which I did. I can't thank you enough for running this event so well in these difficult times. I'll certainly be back next year and I'll recommend the GWR to my friends. Thank you.
Martin Claridge - 'Awesome'
Excellent signage, support crew and feed station was spot on. Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a great day out on the bike.
Nick Charles - 'Awesome'
One of the best GWRs yet. Perfect weather coupled with top organisation makes this a really fun but challenging ride. If you’re considering a first sportive, then make it this one.
Ian Bees - 'Awesome'
Great event and even with COVID restrictions in place it was friendly and there was a great atmosphere - people were very well behaved! I’d even say the start in groups of 6 at 30-second intervals was better than last year - hubby said it was easier to pass on his way home! Looking forward to next year.
Samantha Carpenter - 'Awesome'
Great ride, really liked the veg/vegan burgers at the end and the beer tent. Very well organised and signed, especially considering the circumstances. We will be back.
Martin Hunt - 'Awesome'
I loved every painful minute of the ride, it felt tougher this year but that's probably my fitness level (the wind didn't help either) the atmosphere was fantastic yet again and the new pit stop in Wedmore was amazing and good value. See you all next year x
Tara Sharp - 'Awesome'
Thank you Darren for another enjoyable day from start to finish, well organized as usual, see you next year.
Paul Green - 'Awesome'
The ride was excellent. Thank you! The route was clearly planned, tested and marked out. There was a great atmosphere and everyone was so helpful and supportive - organisers and riders alike!
Helen Alton - 'Awesome'
Five stars to you guys and girls for running this event in the present pandemic, from start to finish the event was well organised keeping everyone safe. Hats off to all volunteers at the start, out on the course and at the end. Let’s hope for a return to normal next year.
Mark Nash - 'Awesome'
Brilliant route, signposted perfectly, extra thanks to marshal Lee for stopping when I had a mechanical issue and getting me back on the road without waiting for the mechanic. Can't wait for next year. A lovely day out.
Liz Lewis - 'Awesome'
So much effort must’ve gone in to put on this event under such trying times and restrictions, other events might have given up thinking it’s not worth the trouble but the GWR organisers pushed on and the event as usual was a great success. Thanks must go out to all the people who set up the registration area it was obvious that many hours of work went in to make it Covid secure. It was obviously a gamble putting on an event in September and the organisers' reward was the sunny afternoon on the beach lawns at Weston enjoying a burger and a cold beer. I really enjoyed the day this is my 6th GWR in a row after I moved to Somerset in 2014. Already can’t wait for next year.
Alan Bennett - 'Awesome'
Really well organised, the marshals were fantastic. Really good food stops and excellent separation and adherence to the rule of 6.
Rosie Clark - 'Awesome'
Awesome organisation, perfectly safe coffee stops, excellent signage and amazing marshals who clapped us as we went safely across the busy junctions.
Keith Harvey - 'Awesome'
Brilliant event! Organisation slick but safe due to the challenges of the pandemic! My 2nd time of completing this and such a friendly affair! Thanks to Darren and the GWR team!!!
Jo Wessell - 'Awesome'
Great day out - I cycled 70 miles which is the longest distance I've ever done! The event was very well organised which must have been more challenging than usual! Thank you all.
Annette Spear - 'Awesome'
A big thank you to Darren and the GWR crew for yet another great ride, looking forward to next year's 3 rides.
Lee Palmer - 'Awesome'
For organisation, communication and for signage I would give you 5 stars. The physical challenge posed by the yellow route was just right, especially helped by perfect cycling weather conditions. However from a personal view I much prefer the quieter roads and wonder if parts of the route might be tweaked to avoid sections of the busier roads.
Mike Blott - 'Awesome'
I finally completed my first GWR and it didn't disappoint! It was well organised and run under challenging circumstances....and a great route and atmosphere. Thank you Darren and team!
Ruth Goddard - 'Awesome'
I thought both feed stations were an improvement on previous years - and the second was much much better, so please stick with these arrangements if you can when you return to full capacity. The finish line bar ran out of draught Butcombe, so I guess that was successful, but sad for me as I had to drink a bottle of something else. Once again, Burnham was playing host to who can be the least considerate driver on the GWR route competition. Not sure what it is about that place, but every year when you hit there and the run up to Weston the consideration and patience of drivers falls off a cliff.
Ray Lock - 'Awesome'
Thoroughly enjoyed the ride. Really well organised. Lots of communication before the event. Your volunteers are really friendly and helpful. Love the atmosphere at Weston.
Lucy Gardner - 'Awesome'
Fantastic organisation, really enjoyed day. Maybe you could start buses back to Park and Ride a little earlier (had to wait 1 hr 40mins and chose to ride back)?
Ian Henley - 'Awesome'
Fantastic ride, very well organised. Very Covid aware but took nothing away from the experience. Some tough climbs for those who wanted them. Just a shame we missed the last signs at Wedmore for the Blue Route. Well done and thanks to everyone for putting this event on in these trying times.
Claire Crichard - 'Awesome'
Well organised event, Congrats to Darren & team, so organised that it seemed there was no pandemic going on (IMO).
Vince Callen - 'Awesome'
Thank you for the brilliant organisation and sorting out perfect weather. The food stops were perfectly placed as well.
Susan Ross - 'Awesome'
Congratulation Darren and your excellent team for a well organised and successful event. A great day, thank you.
Laurence Andrews - 'Awesome'
Organisation, marshals and food were exceptional. Honestly a brilliant Sportive, thank you. Only one small improvement suggestion - make route variances a bit clearer on the pre issued maps (I wasn't sure if the distances included the 'diversion options' or not) and I couldn't download directions on the gpx files (although that may be a user error!!). But thanks again.
Jess Qayoumi - 'Awesome'
As always, a great event. Extremely well organised and a pleasure to be involved. Many thanks to Darren and the organising team!
David Szymanski - 'Awesome'
First thing to say is thank you so much to everyone involved in organising this, all the organisers, marshals, mechanics, medics, food providers, transporters, clearer uppers, clappers at the end - I hope I haven’t forgotten too many people. It was a great day out and yes, the lovely weather did help but it would have been great even without that. Tiny suggestion, I can see that a huge amount of effort went into the route planning but there did seem to be an awful lot of main road from Highbridge onwards and I do know there are Sustrans routes thereabouts. Because of the skilfully staggered starts, we never seemed to be overcrowded so I did wonder if a less busy route could have been devised for the latter stages? But that is a minor niggle. Thank you very much again.
Chris Goulden - 'Awesome'
As per usual an excellent event. Well organised. A must-do.
Damian Pudner - 'Awesome'
I was a first timer, amazing organisation, the route was very challenging but with all the encouragement from other riders and especially the super volunteers I managed to complete the ride much more easily than expected. Thank you all.
Phil Humphries - 'Awesome'
Loved it, second time doing this ride, so well supported, really nice to have all levels of cyclist involved. Great route, fab day! Will be back!
Lindsay Burnett - 'Awesome'
Well organised, friendly atmosphere, good safety measures in place. Thank you to all marshals and organisers. Roll on next year for the 70 miles next time.
Clive Wheatley - 'Awesome'
Many thanks for such a fab event. Extremely friendly which is appreciated as I am a solo rider by choice. Very well organised, break stops were superb and improved upon. Love the high quality burgers and beer at the end! Many thanks, see you next year!
Adrian Collins - 'Awesome'
Excellent as ever, very well organised and a pleasure to take part in for about the seventh time. I'll be back next year.
David Eidman - 'Awesome'
Such a lovely day. The route was well planned to allow for a warm up before hitting the hills. Burrington Combe was spectacular (but hard work). It then nursed you to the finish with mainly flat roads. The route was well signed with friendly marshals available to help. A special thank you to Lee and Darren. Lee stopped to help my friend sort out a gearing problem. He was lovely and friendly. Darren came to my aid by allowing my friend to enter late in the day. Thanks. We will definitely be back next year. X
Natalie Long - 'Awesome'
Thanks to everyone who made the GWR a great success. Definitely will be back next year.
Tony Gambicchia - 'Awesome'
Cracking event, but feed stations appeared to be in the wrong place if you did all of the add-on blue route. Too near the start and too near to the finish.
Graham Holmes - 'Very Good'
My 8th GWR - it's the 1st event to go on my calendar each year. This year I had very little training but still made it round even if I was the last one in. Very well organised and the measures put into place due to Covid were fantastic & everyone appeared to stick to them. The 2 feed stations were fantastic - very efficient - it will be nice to see it remain at Burrington. Thanks to all the staff and helpers who made the day possible, see you next year.
Lee Anderson - 'Awesome'
Great day, well organised especially under current circumstances! Great job!
Matthew Rattenbury - 'Awesome'
Loved doing the GWR this year, it was just as good as when I did it in 2018, even with the cap on numbers. My only issue was that the company who do the burgers at the end had run out of vegan burgers by the time I had finished meaning I couldn't get any food or sustenance until I got home a few hours later, May be worth asking for any dietary requirements when people sign up so you can give the burger company a rough number of people who are riding that are vegetarian/vegan.
Rebecca Williams - 'Awesome'
Another amazing day, well organised, well sign posted, great route, great company, look forward to next year.
Nick Siangolis - 'Awesome'
Great Ride again this year. Forgot my puncture repair kit and the inevitable happened. No mobile signal on the Mendips so started walking, I managed about 5 metres before the very next cyclist stopped and offered me a tube and pump, back on the road within 10 mins. This sums up the great spirit of the GWR. Usual warm welcome and great food & beer at the end. Looking forward to next year already!
Rich Vernon - 'Awesome'
Thanks so much, the GWR was great fun and so well organised :)
Gez Taylor - 'Awesome'
Great day well organised, really fab feed stations. Loved the route apart from section that went through Burnham on Sea, found this dangerous and unnecessary as so busy, be good to see this cut from route as too many frustrated drivers on road and riders caused tail backs causing more problems.
Giles Bissett - 'Very Good'
Fantastic organisation. Great Event.
David Williams - 'Awesome'
Thanks again Team GWR - another cracking event. And the constant tailwind was a godsend for us taller riders, as was the newly tarmaced sections of the A370 riding back to the Park and Ride in Bristol! A fantastic day on the bike. Thanks to each of you.
Paul Lodge - 'Awesome'
Well done with everything, in particular making the start and end easy and safe.
Chris Lloyd - 'Awesome'
Just like to thank Darren and team for a well organised ride considering the year we have had compared to last year, it was a great ride/route, lovely weather considering time of year, hopefully next year will be more relaxed and we all can enjoy this great experience again.
Will Ryan - 'Awesome'
Really enjoyed it, very well organised. Thank you.
Tom Morrison - 'Awesome'
Fab event thank you, just point to add we witnessed a lot of impatient vehicles so would it be an idea to have some signs on the route a few days before to warn of a cycle event taking place?
Nicky Baker - 'Awesome'
Simply wonderful. Well-organised, friendly and with the added bonus of Cheddar Gorge, this has become a 'must do' for me every year.
Geraint Jones - 'Awesome'
Many thanks to Darren and team for persevering in the present climate to give us all a chance to ride to WSM. I don't know how you manage to get the weather just right, we even had a following wind at one point this year! A really good day again. Well done!
Mark Wyatt - 'Awesome'
Once again a well organised event. Thanks to Darren and team for a great day of cycling in such difficult circumstances.
Paul Gore - 'Awesome'
Great, well organised event and completely COVID secure. Big thanks go to all the volunteers at the start and finish, the marshals along the way and to all those who provided the refreshments at the food stops.
Diana Keeble - 'Awesome'
A really great event with fantastic organisation and help from everyone involved. Thanks so much for putting it together under very testing circumstances. Here's to 2021!
Adrian Thorley - 'Awesome'
Really well organised, super smiling marshals and an excellent ride. Well done!
David Harborne - 'Awesome'
Thank you for another wonderful GWR ride. I am so glad you were able to continue with the event despite the date change. It was a bit strange turning up at Long Ashton car park with it being so empty although we did leave it until about 9am to arrive. I don’t know how many people cancelled but it seemed very quiet but the experience was just as special & all marshals & food stop staff were so welcoming & ensuring everyone stuck to the COVID guidelines. Thank you so much for organising again & maybe I will try the Exmoor one soon now I have done Cheddar gorge. All the best.
Paul Westaway - 'Awesome'
Everything about the Great Weston Ride was fun and professional.
Andrew Buffery - 'Awesome'
I had a motorist stop me at the top of the Priddy descent. He said he was concerned about cyclists flying down too fast, and he nearly hit one due to the narrow road. I thanked him for his comments and informed the marshals at the bottom. He was quite pleasant and was just worried about the rider‘s safety. Overall I had a great day, thanks for the event!
John Francksen - 'Awesome'
Very well organised & think everyone preferred the different stop off point in Wedmore.
Kate Shapland - 'Awesome'
The event was planned for us to have an enjoyable day whilst applying restrictions for Covid.
Ian Hampton - 'Awesome'
A fun day out for all, if you enjoy cycling!
Ben Beckitt - 'Very Good'
Enjoyed the ride, and thank you to all organisers, marshals and everyone else who helped out.
Darren Savery - 'Awesome'
One of the best events in my cycling calendar. Great organisation and great route(s). Well done Darren and team for making it happen in the current challenging times.
Many congratulations to everyone at the GWR team. I’ve ridden several GWRs in the past but this was the best I can remember. The Covid organisation was excellent, very clear, straightforward and somewhat ironically made the Start even easier than in other years. The on-course signage was very clear as usual and easy to follow – and supported by very helpful marshals at certain key places on the route. The finish was very well structured and organised and again ironically with the Covid arrangements the finish seemed to be much easier than in previous years. Everyone maintained social distancing protocols at the Start, Refreshment stops and the Finish and I think we should all congratulate ourselves on that and acknowledge how well it worked – there was no queue for the burgers! And to cap it all you laid on perfect weather!! Well done, I look forward to GER/GWR in 2021.
Outstanding day out & had never done one before...organisational nightmare especially with Covid...I felt really welcomed & made some lasting friendships. I used to organize holidays & charity events so witnessed a masterclass in how to run an EVENT..Congratulations...see you next year, I am hooked.
Thoroughly enjoyed another great day out on the bike in a beautiful part of the country. Extremely well organised event as always. Already looking forward to next year. Thank you GWR - Chapeau.
GWR 2020 showing how to host a safe event in the face of incredible and demanding circumstances, with riders and public health at the forefront. All aspects of current guidance adhered to and still able to provide welfare facilities and feed stations. Darren and the team fully deserve all the accolades they receive - the route and all its extendable permutations ensure riders of all abilities are provided with a rideable yet challenging and rewarding route. Climbs, descents, rollers and flat, mainly in warm sunshine and with the obligatory dash of headwind. Chapeau to all who rode.
What a great day me and my brothers had last Sunday and we all commented on how well it was organised from the coach in the morning to the start line, refreshment stops and finally to the finish line and how each and everyone played their part in making it a great success. Huge thanks to you and your fantastic volunteer teams.
To everyone involved with the running of this year’s event I’d like to say a big “Thank you”. I’ve ridden the event every year since 2017 when I was first diagnosed with advanced Prostate Cancer, and it’s become a regular on my Cycling Calendar. It’s the first organised event I’ve ridden this year and from start to finish it was superbly organised. It’s demonstrated to me that in these unprecedented times large group rides can still be run, if organised properly. The welcome at the finish, followed by a burger and a couple of pints rounded off a truly wonderful day. Thank you very much indeed.
Great to get 2 last minute places for the ride - nothing like a father and son ride. Well done for organising, must have been a nightmare!
I thoroughly enjoyed the day, tough in parts, hillier than I thought in parts, some very steep descents. These are compliments and not criticisms. Great event and very well organised throughout the whole of the 75 miles route. Superb marshalling on the route and at the finish. I made a weekend of it by staying in Long Ashton from Saturday to Monday. The organisation at the start was superb. The way marking was superb. The on route marshals were great. Feed stations were suitably placed and well enjoyed by participants. The organisation of the finish was superb, as was the organisation of the transport back to Bristol. Well done to all. In the immortal words, I'll be back.
Thank you so much for today! The organisation and friendliness of all the marshals and event staff was brilliant. What a great ride and day out we had. See you next year.
Firstly I would like to say thank you for a fantastic well organised event, again. Most enjoyable as usual, I think you did very well especially considering the way things are at the moment. However, having talked to several of my friends who have all ridden the GWR over the years, we have come to one change that we think would improve the enjoyment and safety of the ride. That is to ditch the part of the ride that goes through Highbridge and Burnham-on-Sea, as the large amounts of cyclists mingling with what can be very busy traffic is not really enjoyable. We can’t see any reason for going through the town at all, as well as the fact we (cyclists) end up annoying the motorists in the town. I’m sure a route for example, turning north from Mark would be safer and more pleasant on quieter roads.
Thank you Darren and your team, What a brilliant day. Till next year. Take care.
Many thanks for yet another brilliant event. Hats off to you and your team for pulling this off in the middle of the biggest challenges. It was another great ride, made all the more enjoyable having completed the GER.
I'm not a distance or road-group cyclist. I have a hybrid touring sort of bike basically to let me get out and about solo, sometimes down into Gloucester, and sometimes up the Cotswold ridge and along the top. So unsurprisingly I didn't blend in with the majority of the riders, but that's no big deal. For me cycling is about keeping fit, rather than setting records. If I see a view I like, and it's safe, I'll stop and take pictures. Never without a camera. The GWR was ideal from that perspective, challenging but enjoyable, and in places very photogenic.
In terms of plaudits, you and the team of volunteers deserve so many. Just for getting a ride of 600 people safely done & dusted while operating under ever-changing Covid-19 regulations was a remarkable thing in itself. I expect it was stressful and worrying at times. But the signage, excellent. The volunteers at Long Ashton P&R, road junctions, feeding stops, or the meeters & greeters in Weston; a smile for everyone. The organising of the coaches and bike transport worked flawlessly in Weston at oh-dark-early. The participants themselves seemed to be having a good time (probably because I was an easy overtake, ha) but it's a good sign. And I would say in general social-distancing was as good as could be expected. It was astonishing to see it all work so well, and just to take part in a stress-free piece of normality - if you look at the big picture - is great for mental health. Many thanks to you all.
Love this event, great atmosphere, great people, great scenery.
Absolutely amazing day out. Thank you. It felt like a bit of normality in these strange times. Everyone was so friendly and encouraged my son who loved it. He shouted out during the ride, “This is like the McDonald’s slogan, I’m lovin' it” Also, so many lovely people when my husband took a tumble going up Burrington Combe.
My first ever sportive and what a great one for it to be, very well organised and ran under extreme circumstances too. At no point did I feel that anything could have been better. See you all next year for sure.
Toby and I had such a fantastic day, we were so grateful to all the organisers and Darren for going the mega extra mile and enabling this event to go ahead this year, thank you so much.
My first GWR didn't disappoint! Great team, support and organisation and a friendly atmosphere...loved it, thank you!! Massive congratulations under challenging circumstances.
Great ride considering the circumstances. Great effort in putting it on and it still felt like a special ride as well so your measures worked!
It was brilliant. Thanks a million for the organisation. It really felt pretty much the same as always, with a few extra, sensible precautions to keep us all safe. I thoroughly enjoyed it as always.
Great ride. Loved every minute. 1st but definitely not the last GWR. Brilliant event. Well done everyone. Top organising.
A great event once more. Well organised, friendly and you did a great job with the weather! I’d recommend the GWR to anyone and am already looking forward to next year. Thank you.
Amazing organisation as usual, especially under the trying circumstances. Well done for even holding the event, I'm really glad you did, I enjoyed it immensely, as usual. The weather turned up for us again as well!
Loved my first Great Weston Ride, well organised, well ran event. Thank you all for all your hard work in difficult times. I'll be back for more next year.
This was my first year, so can’t compare to previous GWRs, and it felt very safe to me. Good cycling, good banter on and off the saddle, and good organisation all round. It must have taken a huge effort just to get us all to the start line in the first place, and that’s what us riders don’t get to appreciate. Great day, and I look forward to next year. Well done to all.
